App helps builders meet new health and safety rules

A new app to help small and medium sized construction businesses put together health and safety plans has been launched today by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
The free CDM Wizard app, developed with the support of the HSE, will help businesses to write construction phase plans, perhaps for the first time, following the introduction of new regulations.

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) come into force on 6 April 2015 and mean that for the first time, all construction projects – including work for householders – will need a health and safety plan for the construction phase.

The new app, which will first be available on Android and to be followed on iOS, will help make sure all construction work is underpinned by good health, safety and welfare standards which are practical and straightforward to implement.
